When Jürgen Klopp was unveiled as Liverpool’s manager in October 2015, it seemed like he did not achieve anything major in the first season or things would stagnate or worst possible we would move sideways. Klopp, with his personality and enthusiasm, immediately resonated with the fans, though. His famous “I’m the normal one” press conference set the tone for what was to come — a manager who was down-to-earth, relatable, and deeply passionate about the game. We had endured a period of uncertainty and mediocrity, but Klopp’s vision and energy promised a new dawn. He urged us to transition from doubters to believers, back then it might felt optimistic, now looking back, it is exactly what he ended up doing.

Building the Foundation

In his first season, Klopp began to lay the foundations for what would become a footballing juggernaut. He introduced the high-intensity “gegenpressing” style, which involved winning the ball back immediately after losing possession. This approach required immense fitness and organization, and Klopp’s meticulous planning and tactical acumen were evident from the start. Players like Lallana and Firmino thrived under Klopp’s system, showcasing tireless performances and intelligent movement. Klopp’s ability to transform players and extract the best was evident. He turned doubted talents into assets.

The Road to Glory

We experienced heartbreak in the Europa League final in 2016 and the Champions League final in 2018. Klopp’s belief in his process and his ability to motivate the team kept us moving forward. The 2018–2019 season was a turning point. We came agonizingly close to winning the Premier League, finishing just one point behind Manchester City with a staggering 97 points. But the real triumph came in the Champions League, where we defeated Tottenham Hotspur to lift our sixth European Cup. The scenes in Madrid were unforgettable, with Klopp and captain Jordan Henderson sharing an emotional embrace.

The Pinnacle of Success

The following season, Klopp achieved what no Liverpool manager had done in 30 years — he led us to the Premier League title. The 2019–2020 season was a masterclass in dominance. We won 26 of our first 27 games, and despite the interruption caused by the pandemic, we clinched the title with seven games to spare. The sight of Klopp lifting the Premier League trophy, albeit in an empty Anfield, was a moment of pure ecstasy.Under Klopp’s leadership, we also secured the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and a domestic double of the FA Cup and League Cup in the 2021–2022 season. Each trophy was a testament to Klopp’s ability to build a team that was not only talented but also resilient and united.

The Man Behind the Success

What set Klopp apart was not just his tactical acumen, but also his approach to management. He fostered a sense of community within the club, treating everyone from the players to the service staff with equal respect. His philosophy of “together strong” created a family-like atmosphere, where everyone felt valued and motivated to give their best. Klopp’s charisma and showmanship endeared him to fans and players alike. He understood the importance of connecting with the supporters, often orchestrating the crowd and celebrating with them after games. His passion was infectious, and he made us believe that anything was possible.

A Grateful Farewell

As Klopp prepares to leave Liverpool, I am filled with a mix of emotions. There is sadness at the thought of losing a manager who has given us so much, but there is also gratitude for the memories he has created. Klopp has transformed Liverpool into a force to be reckoned with, both domestically and internationally. He has given us moments that we will cherish forever. From the dramatic comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League to the unforgettable Champions League triumphs, from the relentless pursuit of the Premier League title to the celebrations at Anfield, Klopp has etched his name into the history of Liverpool Football Club.

Thank You, Jürgen

Jürgen, thank you for making us believe again. Thank you for your passion, your dedication, and your unwavering commitment to this club. You have given us some of the best years of our lives, and for that, we will be forever grateful. Going against the financial prowess of City season after season and working on a sell-to-buy philosophy for transfers, it’s a modern-day miracle how much success and life you have brought to Liverpool. It is the measure of the man when all three clubs you have ever managed — Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool — never wanted you to leave.

I wish I could get a Klopp hug. He has left an indelible mark on Liverpool Football Club, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of every Liverpool fan. You’ll never walk alone, Jürgen.
